Sports Union Award Success for Club

Nicholson, with club President Alison McAteer

The Curling Club enjoyed their first ever major success in the Sports Union awards this year as club Treasurer Michael Nicholson was recognised for his work with the club.

At the ceremony, held during the Sports Union Ball, Nicholson walked away with the Neil Campbell Shield for Outstanding Sports Organisation and Services.  The prize was given to Nicholson for his extensive involvement in the club committee over the past four years.

Nicholson is a former President and Secretary of the club, and has held a number of other positions over the years.  He authored the club’s Constitution, Blues Constitution and Volunteer Policy, and has played in over 25 games in university colours.  He is a qualified coach, and the current Secretary of Scottish Universities Curling.

Nicholson was previously recognised by the Sports Union with Colours in 2011.

Former club Vice-President Ross McCall was also a winner, receiving an Executive Award for his services to the Hare and Hounds club.
