Following the placing of Edinburgh’s teams at last and second-last in the results table, Edinburgh entered the 2013 tournament with twice the number of teams and with optimism running high. After pushing the tournament for the whole year, the Committee were pleased to be sending 15 people to Stranraer, with the four teams listed below:

Round 1:
Teams 1 and 3 were the first on the ice, facing Heriot Watt and Strathclyde 1 respectively. Unfortunately Dun’s debut as skip resulted in a 20-2 defeat, with a 6-3 defeat for Stirling’s rink on the adjacent sheet. Edinburgh 4 also suffered a defeat, losing 18-2 to Glasgow, though Stockton’s Edinburgh 2 took a comfortable 8-2 win against Strathclyde 2.

Round 2:
For Edinburgh 1 and 3, the day was not over yet, with another match to play before the hearty North West Castle dinner and a trip to The Arkhouse and Bar Pazz, the legendary bastions of Stranraer’s nightlife. With such delights in mind, Edinburgh 1 took on Aberdeen, leading to an 8-5 loss; and Edinburgh 3 took on Strathclyde 3, again suffering a loss, losing 8-7.
The next day Edinburgh 2 and 4 were fresh faced and their stomachs lined with a hefty Castle Grill, ready to face Robert Gordon University (RGU) and Aberdeen respectively. Edinburgh 2 drew 8-8, and Edinburgh 4 lost 10-4.
